Summary of Changes
Hello @holtskinner, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!
This pull request refactors the A2ABaseModel
by removing custom attribute handling that previously supported deprecated camelCase
field access. The change enforces the use of snake_case
for direct attribute access and modification on model instances, streamlining the API and removing legacy functionality.
Highlights
- Deprecation Removal: Removed the custom
__getattr__
and__setattr__
methods fromsrc/a2a/_base.py
that previously allowed deprecatedcamelCase
attribute access and setting onA2ABaseModel
instances. This eliminates the need forwarnings
,Any
, andClassVar
imports related to this functionality. - Enforced Snake Case: Direct attribute access and modification on
A2ABaseModel
instances now strictly requiresnake_case
field names. Attempting to usecamelCase
aliases for attribute access or setting will now raise anAttributeError
, providing clearer guidance to developers. - Test Updates: The test suite in
tests/test_types.py
has been updated to reflect and verify this new behavior. Thetest_camelCase
function was renamed totest_camelCase_access_raises_attribute_error
and now asserts thatAttributeError
is correctly raised whencamelCase
aliases are used for attribute access or setting, while confirming thatsnake_case
usage remains functional.

Code Review
This pull request removes the deprecated camelCase
attribute access from A2ABaseModel
. The test changes in tests/test_types.py
require re-introduction of __getattr__
and __setattr__
in A2ABaseModel
to provide the developer-friendly error messages that the tests expect.
