Summary of Changes

Hello @kthota-g, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request introduces a change to the default well-known path for the agent card, moving it to a new, more descriptive endpoint. To facilitate a smooth transition and maintain backward compatibility, the previous endpoint will continue to serve the agent card but is now explicitly marked as deprecated. This ensures that existing clients can still access the agent card while encouraging migration to the new canonical path, with appropriate logging for deprecated access.

Highlights

  • Agent Card Path Update: The canonical path for the agent card has been updated from /.well-known/agent.json to /.well-known/agent-card.json in src/a2a/utils/constants.py.
  • Deprecated Path Support: The previous agent card path (/.well-known/agent.json) is now considered deprecated but will continue to be served for backward compatibility. This is implemented in fastapi_app.py and starlette_app.py.
  • Conditional Deprecation: The deprecated path is only enabled when the agent card is served at its new default well-known path. If a custom agent card URL is configured, the deprecated path will not be served.
  • Warning on Deprecated Access: Accessing the deprecated agent card path will now log a warning message, as handled by the new handle_deprecated_agent_card_path method in jsonrpc_app.py.
  • Test Coverage: Existing tests have been updated to reflect the new canonical path, and new integration tests have been added in test_integration.py to verify the correct behavior of the deprecated path, including its conditional availability.

Code Review

This pull request adds support for a deprecated agent card path to maintain backward compatibility while introducing a new, more descriptive path. The changes are implemented for both FastAPI and Starlette applications. The logic correctly adds the deprecated route only when the default path is used. The tests are updated and new tests are added to cover the new functionality.
