Issue details
Addition of a SMTP relay would allow larger adoption. Not all orgs can use things like SNS out of the box.
Affected area/feature
When targeting managed service providers, the email configuration should be more robust. Though SMTP is the obvious option, it shouldn't be the only option. I suggest looking at bundling something like https://github.com/loopingz/smtp-relay to enable sending through managed services.
