[Issue]: Cannot reuse backup device sync folder after distro reinstallation

Hi, I've been reading the differences between sync vs backup. However, I would expect that the same device folder can be used to sync new files.

I used to have a backup enabled for some folder. Then reinstalled my Linux system for external reasons, installed Mega, but I cannot reuse the same device as before. When trying to backup folders, it offers a backup at a new device named <SAME AS PREVIOUS> - 1. Am I missing something?

Did you copy your old MEGAsync folder ~/.local/share/data/Mega Limited/MEGAsync/ over ?

yep, /home was preserved

that might explain why right?

I woulda expected it'd work like it did before, but since it didn't, I doubt I can be of more use.

This is a serious problem with MEGA that I don't thing will ever be solved. I spent days going back and forth with the support team but in the end they didn't have a solution.

For some reason my MEGAsync app stopped working a while ago and I had to make a clean install. When I tried readding the same folders connected to the same backup folders in the cloud it wouldn't allow me. I had to REUPLOAD ALMOST 2 TERABYTES because the system is so flawed.

Now I need to format my computer but I've been postponing because I know I will have to reupload everything again and be vulnerable because I HAVE TO DELETE the backups in the cloud in order for the new duplicate backup to fit in the 3TB of the plan.

I've been looking at Filen (https://filen.io/) that is almost the same price but allows a much better control of sync/backup and you can reuse folders and reassociate them with other folders in the cloud. You can even turn a backup into a sync and vice-versa. The only con is that they don't support empty files (0 bytes) which is a dealbreaker for me. The moment they fix this I'm probably making the switch.
