Exciting news on the Gemini CLI front! As we've grown, we're taking a big step to make our releases even more robust and reliable.

✨ Introducing Our New Release Cadence! ✨

Starting this week, we're moving to a process that allows for more testing and polish. Here’s how you can engage with our new @preview and @latest channels:

  • For the latest features, install the @preview channel. Every Tuesday, we'll publish the newest updates here for early testing. You can install it with:
    npm install -g @google/gemini-cli@preview
  • For the most reliable experience, use the @latest (Stable) channel. After a full week of "baking," the preview release is promoted to stable the following Tuesday. Get it with:
    npm install -g @google/gemini-cli@latest

This change is all about ensuring our stable releases are rock-solid. For a complete overview of the new process, you can read our official release documentation.

What does this mean for this week?
To kick this off, we're letting our current preview release (v0.2.0-preview.0) bake. So, we'll be skipping our usual big list of updates this week.

Our next feature-packed stable release will be next Tuesday, August 26th, with the weekly update coming Wednesday, August 27th. After that, you can expect a fresh, stable release every week!

We're thrilled about this evolution and bringing you a more dependable tool. Give the @preview channel a try today or look for the @latest release next week!
