The UDP support in SOCKS 5 is actually pretty decent
there is nothing in principle that prevents sending wireguard (or in our case more precisely AmneziaWG) UDP packets over Socks to simplify pluggability (so one could tunnel AmneziaWG over UDP Cloak (which is moody but worked well for me for UDP OpenVPN) or perhaps one of those advanced REALITY XRAY things)
There are mature Go implementations of SOCKS5 UDP client functionality (txthinking library maybe?) that would allow implementing this functionality in AmneziaWG with relatively low expenditure of effort on behalf of Amnezia team.
This may greatly futureproof the VPN by providing a relatively straightforward "pluggable transport like" mechanism for adding new obfuscation/block evasion functions and adapting to new coming censorship challenges
