HMM when launched by icon or cmd or other CLI methods you can set the settings.txt appdata FOLDER so briefly SumatraPDF -appdata "my choice of \folder" HOWEVER you cannot split the file as such and usually no need to do so unless you want one appdata for bills and another for novels in which case use 2 folders but common core settings |

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I used your method but with a relative path:
and it works as expected. But first I used three dots instead of two by mistake and Sumatra created:
witch although it was exactly what I told it to do, did not really sit well with Explorer (infinite "..." nested folders) and took some googling to delete. Should this be a bug? |

When set to remember document settings, at least in the portable version, SumatraPDF will store the filename and path for each document inside SumatraPDF-settings.txt together with the "core" program settings.
Is there a way to store them instead in a separate file, preferably inside the sumatrapdfcache folder?
[Yes, I have done a search for similar discussions, but my searching skills may be subpar...]
