Winget update renders it inaccessible

As the path where winget is installed moves around it is important that the upgrade also changes the $ENV:Path variable which it doesn't.

Is this something the winget team is aware of? is there a way to assist you to troubleshoot this problem?

The App Execution Alias for winget is at %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\WindowsApps\, which is stable across versions. That should be added to your path automatically.
It sounds like you are accessing winget directly from the C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\ folder, which is generally discouraged.
